It’s time to have the money talk. No one likes the money talk. And my dearest wifey, you probably dont want to read this one….

How much does ChumpCar racing really cost? I mean, how much could it really cost with a $500 car valuation limit? Ha.

Here are the costs I know of. Costs in RED are already paid. Costs in GREEN are estimates. Oh, and this is from memory, so dont expect this to be accurate to the cent.

Shit that is a lot of money. And these number dont include the $19,000 truck I bought to tow the car, or the trailer I will need to buy/rent/steal. It also does not include any spares I would like to have. Luckily spares from the junk yard are cheap. And, luckily, teammates will be contributing to the cost of the entry fee, tires, fuel and a percentage of the overall cost of the car.  For those who are interested in driving on the team, here is what you can expect to pay:

This doesnt include how much I would like to see drivers contribute to help me with the cost of building the car, tires, brakes, and fuel. The amount will depend on sponsors, budget, and the number of people racing. Who knows!

Overwhelming, yes, but still cheaper than any other form of racing. Food for thought.

The cost to build and race a car in a stage rally: $20,000 to $50,000.
